- Abstract
- Now that digital image files are being exchanged between facilities so commonly, it is imperative that a standard method for setting up scanners be adopted. Although Cineon printing density has supposedly been an industry standard for 15 years, there has been no real consensus on how to implement it. Each facility devised its own methods for setting up its scanner and interpreting density on negatives. Academy Printing Density is a proposal from the Science and Technology Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences addressing this need.
