bio
Akira Nakagawa is a senior researcher in the audiovisual systems laboratory at Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd., where he is in involved efficient video coding scheme and architecture of H.261, H.263, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and H.264/AVC. He received the Paper of MoMuC'97 Award in the International Workshop on Mobile Multimedia Communication MoMuC'97. Nakagawa holds an M.S. degree from the University of Tokyo.John L. Pittasbio
John L. Pittas provides technology, marketing, sales and business development guidance for Fujitsu's MPEG-4 AVC codec products to Fujitsu Computer Products of America (FCPA's) New Products Group, and strategic technology and business development planning for television broadcast products to Fujitsu's Strategic Planning Office. Pittas has over 30 years of experience in film and video production, video circuit and system design, and broadcast product and engineering management. Prior to joining FCPA, Pittas served as vice president of broadcast products and engineering at SeaChange were he led the development and launch of the company's broadcast product line with the Broadcast MediaCluster, the Broadcast MediaLibrary and the MediaClient Codecs. The Broadcast MediaCluster was awarded an Emmy by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2001. Pittas currently holds four patents in video data manipulation and transmission technology and is a member of SMPTE and Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He earned a B.A. in arts and letters from the University of Delaware in 1975, an M.A. in arts and letters in 1982, and a B.S. in electrical engineering in 1984, both from State University of New York at Buffalo. - Copyright
