Abstract
Eyestrain, headaches, and fatigue are very real problems that need to be addressed, while creating good stereo imagery. Viewers are expected to perform eye gymnastics in order to watch some stereo presentations; for a short-format film, this can be tolerable, but for a full-length feature film, this is not acceptable. The left and right images need to be correctly aligned and color balanced in order to reduce these issues; shot to shot, the images need to flow, allowing the eyes to adjust over the cuts in a painless manner. Consequently, the DI suite becomes the place not only to make traditional color calls to satisfy the director's vision but also to quality-control the stereo images to make stereo-specific adjustments
