Abstract: To improve the efficiency of printing operations on large release orders for 16mm subjects of 300 ft to 1400 ft in length, compact loop trees were built in an arrangement similar to conventional processing machine drying cabinets. The film transport employs sprockets and special nylon rollers, and is driven by a flexible connection to an auxiliary gearbox on the printer. The trees are used with dual-head printers and will accommodate picture and sound loops as long as 1400 ft. The life of pre-print films is exceptionally good on this equipment. High production efficiency has been realized, with an average of 85% operating time on long printing runs.
