Abstract: Feature films are now going into theater release with three different soundtrack classifications — single-channel optical, 4-channel magnetic and 6-channel magnetic. When appropriate theater reproducer systems are installed piecemeal, the resulting combination of equipment and controls is often difficult to operate and confusing to the projectionist. A sound reproducing system has been designed to eliminate duplication of controls, simplify routine operating, as well as provide emergency procedures and pushbutton selection of operating modes at each projector position.
