Abstract: Superportable double film recording equipment designed under the auspices of the Research Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, at the request of the Army Pictorial Service, to provide equipment not available to the Armed Forces through the normal supply channels, is described in the following paper. The equipment fills the immediate need for wartime purposes for completely portable, relatively high-quality field or studio work. Moreover, the practicability of extensions and adaptations to post-war requirements have been kept in mind so that its flexibility and value may later be enhanced by arranging it to handle more refined work if desired. It also will probably find a place in studio work when supply conditions are such as to make it commercially available.
