Abstract: Increased reliability, improved electrical performance and considerable operating economies can be obtained by operating TV transmitters in parallel. The degree of paralleling required, the maintenance of correct phasing, and the use of split-feed antennas are described. The problems of monitoring and fault detection are discussed with relation to the largest installation in North America, that of CFTM and CFCF-TV in Montreal. A staff of eight persons runs all shifts on four TV and two stereo FM transmitters in two languages.
