Abstract
New applications and rising costs necessitate reconsideration of the recording and playback techniques for television programs. Among other factors, compatibility, economy, power and space requirements, and application limits must be considered when comparing different recording systems. With its permanently installed, transportable and portable units, which can be used for reels and for cassettes, the BCN system offers an attractive alternative to existing systems. Low weight, small size, and lower power requirements are distinct advantages for the application of BCN units in OB vans and small OB vans.
