Abstract: The necessity for adjusting the acoustics of motion picture theaters has not arisen so often nor so seriously as in the case of churches and other auditoriums. This is because motion pictures are usually accompanied only by organ music, which does not present so great an acoustical problem as speaking. In some cases, however, in addition to the motion pictures, there are songs and speaking numbers, educational addresses or other features, so that it becomes increasingly important that such theaters be adjusted to have good acoustics. There is also to be considered the development of the talking motion picture, which depends markedly for its success on a room properly designed for speaking.
