Abstract: This paper describes an extremely flexible portable sound recording unit assembled and placed in service by the First Motion Picture Unit of the Army Air Forces, whose Headquarters are located in Culver City, California. It includes a general description of the equipment used, with special attention given to the provision of power supply facilities. The equipment selected is of such nature that special manufacturing processes are unnecessary, and power supply arrangements are such that use of the channel is not restricted by the fixed conditions of weight and bulk usually associated with the conventional recording channel.
