Abstract: The Journal Award for 1946 has been made to Ralph H. Talbot for his paper entitled “The Projection Life of Film,” which was published in the August 1945 issue of the Journal of the Society of Motion Picture Engineers. This paper described several types of film damage and means by which each of the types can be minimized, or in some cases almost eliminated. An illuminated certificate was presented to Mr. Talbot in Hollywood, California, at the banquet held at the Hollywood-Roosevelt Hotel on the evening of October 23, 19 46, during the 60th Semiannual Convention of the Society. The Journal Award is presented each year to the author or authors of the most outstanding paper originally published in the Journal during the preceding calendar year and treating some phase of motion picture engineering.
