Abstract: Aug. 1926: De Forest brought suit against Fox and Case, charging infringement of the Ries recording and reproducing patents, two of his patents covering the use of a gas discharge for sound recording, and a patent on the use of a light-sensitive cell with an audion amplifier. (De Forest had purchased the Ries recording patent October 15, 1025. He did not, however, actually acquire the Ries reproducing patent until November 16, 1920, although it is believed he held an option on this and several Ries applications before this time.)
