Abstract: Scientific studies of the effects of colors upon people have been very limited both in number and in scope. Preliminary investigations offer considerable promise that further scientific work along these lines will be fruitful. Some examples of results already obtained will be cited to show that preferences of people for colors and for color combinations can be predicted with satisfactory accuracy. Predictions are possible because there are definite relationships between some of the measurable aspects of colored objects and the degree of preference for colors as noted for the average person.
