- Abstract
- This paper introduces the technology and applications of personal projectors: small and inexpensive video projection devices intended for use in battery-powered handheld or wearable products. A prototype constructed in our research group, based on an array of semiconductor lasers, is then discussed.

bio
V. Michael Bove, Jr. holds an S.B.E.E., an S.M. in visual studies, and a Ph.D. in media technology, all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is currently head of the media laboratory's Object-Based Media Group. He is the author and co-author of over 50 journal and conference papers on digital television systems, video processing hardware and software design, multimedia, scene modeling, and optics. He holds patents on inventions related to video recording, hardcopy, and medical imaging, and is a co-founder and advisor of WatchPoint Media, Inc. Boston Magazine named him one of the “People Shaping Boston's High-Tech Future.” Bove is on the SMPTE Board of Editors and is a fellow of the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers and the IC2 Institute.Wilfrido Sierrabio
Wilfrido Sierra is a master's student in the media arts and sciences program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, working in the media laboratory's Object-Based Media Group. Prior to joining MIT, Sierra received a bachelor's degree in electrical and communications engineering from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) Campus Morelos, Mexico. He has worked at Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) and Scientific Atlanta. - Copyright
