Abstract: Existing and proposed dimensions for 16 and 8mm films are reviewed, with particular reference to image and soundtrack quality, and its limitations. The parameters of 16 and 8mm films are seen as precluding any significant improvement in the utilization of the frame areas without the use of new equipment, and the abandonment of existing projection equipment is seen as impractical.
