Abstract: Procedures for the qualitative and quantitative determination of the usual constituents of photographic developers and fixing baths are given. Volumetric methods are employed in general. The accuracy of the procedures and the significance of analytical findings are discussed in relation to the functions of the various constituents of developers and fixing baths, both when fresh and after use. Suggestions are given as to the manner of application of analytical tests to typical cases of troubles arising from defective processing baths. The selection of reagents, the use of special procedures and equipment, and the computation of results are treated in detail.
