Abstract: This paper is a description of a study of 2 types of output power tubes used to drive loudspeakers. Since the introduction of beam power tubes several years ago, engineers have not been in agreement that they gave comparable results to the low impedance triode type tubes. The comparison was made on 15 and 40 amplifiers. The results indicate how both types of tubes can be made equivalent and intermodulation curves on all amplifiers are shown. Signal-to-noise ratios are also given.
