Abstract: Fidelity of motion-picture images for both visual and quantitative analysis depends upon several factors including optical resolution, image blur, image contrast, image shape characteristics and differential movement of the image from frame to frame. These various factors were considered in a series of practical tests using standard analytical techniques and equipment to determine the contribution of each factor to the overall accuracy of 16mm film evaluation.
