Abstract: In order to meet the anticipated demands for higher education in New York State, television has been brought into greater use as an efficient communications medium for the dissemination of learning on a statewide basis. A threefold program has been established: to provide closed-circuit facilities on campus at 14 major units, to interconnect five educational television broadcast stations in a network having centralized control at the state capitol and to interface the university facilities with the network in a totally integrated system. Television systems planning concepts are described, including studio equipment complements, video-tape recorders, standards, interconnection between campus buildings, color considerations and statewide network facilities.
