Abstract: A lightweight screen-brightness meter has been designed for use in 35mm (and 70mm) motion-picture installations in which numerous variables must be considered. The calibration of the instrument is based on the color temperature range involved, the response time requirements caused by projector shutters, plus the numerous factors of electrical and photometric sensitivities. The use of a screen-brightness meter at a projection site must take into account the area measurement on the screen and the short-term variations in brightness caused by the illumination source.
