Abstract: The overall concept of this unique method of final audio mixing for network television programs is described. This “double-system” approach, using coincidental SMPTE time code on an eight-channel audio recorder with “workprint” picture information from a 1-inch (25-mm) videotape unit, allows greatly improved freedom for the production staff. Equipment, personnel, and step-by-step procedures are discussed in detail.
