Abstract
The upper-scale contrast of Eastman Ektachrome video news film 7240 (tungsten) and Eastman Ektachrome video news film high speed 7250 (tungsten) can be reduced to approximately the level of Eastman Ektachrome commercial film 7252 by means of flashing of the films. The flashing may take place either before exposure or between exposure and processing of the films. It can be accomplished by using a motion-picture printer or other suitable apparatus that can give the film a uniform low-level exposure. This technique is useful when the high speeds of 7240 film or 7250 film are desirable and the films must be intercut with the 7252 low-contrast film. Procedures to obtain best possible quality using this technique and the results obtained are discussed.
