- Abstract
- According to an international agreement on color television techniques (“Colorimetric Analysis Characteristics of Colour Television Cameras”—a 1970 EBI) Technical Center document), colored areas should be reproduced on the screen in such a manner that their tristimulus values agree with those of the original when the latter are lit using standard illuminant D65. Because television studios are usually illuminated by incandescent lamps, a direct visual comparison test of color reproduction is impossible. On the other hand, electronic generation of the primary signals of test colors in a programmable color bar generator and their reproduction on a picture monitor, together with the colors obtained via a television camera, make valid comparison possible.
