Abstract: The use of the edge-number and how it is generally applied in the industry, and the advantages of edge-numbering at 16 frames as a standard for 16-mm film are discussed. It has been long-accepted practice to edge-number 16-mm film in relation to 35-mm frames. Such practice has proved advantageous in complex films, such as one constructed of some 16-mm film combined with 35-mm to complete a final subject in finished form on 16-mm, still maintaining all the advantages gained in the past practice by the use of 35-mm.
