- Abstract
- An account is given of the spark light source systems used in the Aerodynamics Division, National Physical Laboratory, for the photography of high-speed flows in wind tunnels and shock tubes. The systems consist of basic units which can be used in various ways, singly or in multiple units as in a Cranz-Schardin system. Some results obtained with such spark light source systems are shown and briefly discussed. These include photographs taken on wind tunnels, shock tubes and shock tunnels with schlieren, color-schlieren and schlier en-interferometer systems.
