Abstract: Most sprocket-driven machines are used to transport film with particular sprocket-size perforations of one-pitch dimension. The sliding flange sprocket is constructed to accommodate two sizes of perforation pitch, while still being able to use the same width of thread-up leader. By use of this sprocket, any piece of motion-picture equipment can be converted into a dual-purpose machine. The sliding flange sprockets are not limited to use on motion-picture equipment; they may be used on any type of machine that can be sprocket driven.
