The Role of Super 8 in Photographic Surveillance

Abstract: The use of photographic surveillance has become quite widespread in the security industry. The recent introduction of high-quality super-8 time-lapse photography has broadened the use of photographic surveillance and extended this technique to the scientific and engineering fields. This paper describes the benefits of photography in these three areas (security, science and engineering). The characteristics of super-8 cameras along with the situations under which they can be successfully used are emphasized. Consideration is also given to the manner in which these cameras differ from the amateur cameras in both design and application.
