Abstract: The basic specifications of the Teldec video disc are given. Using the 625-line standard with 25 frames/s having a groove density of 140 per mm (3,556 per in), the playing time is five minutes. This has been modified for the U.S. standard. The 210-mm disc consists of a PVC foil which can be copied at high speed in special presses. The disc rotates on an air cushion rather than a turntable. The pickup process and the color system are described.
