Abstract: In an industry demanding continuous technical evolution, such as that of motion picture production, it is well to make a periodical examination of the results achieved in order that we may properly orient ourselves and obtain a more complete idea of the next moves to be made. Such a summation constitutes a mental vantage point from which one may view the trail ahead. The following is an attempt to cover this requirement insofar as it applies to the field and functions of the motion picture production laboratory, but refers more particularly to the laboratory having a weekly capacity of about three million feet of the highest grade release.
