Abstract: The cleaner described in this paper consists of four velvet-covered wheels mounted in opposed positions between which the negative passes. The first pair of wheels is driven at 1400 rpm in a direction opposite to that in which the negative travels. The second pair moves in the same direction as the film, and is not powered. The wheels are enclosed in a chamber that has a vacuum cleaner attached. This cleaning method virtually eliminates subsequent drum cleaning after the initial cleaning.
