Abstract: The function of motion picture sets is to create the proper atmosphere for the action and to establish in the viewer's mind a mood which is characteristic of the scene. Sets are constructed of light-weight materials which are made to appear solid and real by means of technical processes. The technic of using miniatures has been very highly developed and the processes can be made to provide perfect photographic illusions of great height and depth. The paper briefly describes the manner of using these miniatures.
