Abstract: In a television plant, Technical Operations is frequently asked to provide facilities for handling programs involving the integration of combinations of film, video tape, live and outside or field program sources. In order to avoid picture disturbances when switching to these various program sources, horizontal and vertical synchronization must be maintained between the sources at all times. In-plant-timing, genlock, audlok, frequency standard lock, and standards conversion are all methods and procedures used to realize this synchronization both in color and black-and-white television.
