Abstract: Patterns of skin temperatures may be correlated with inflammatory disorders, circulatory disorders, and subsurface malignant tumors. Suitable surface temperature mapping techniques are, therefore, of great medical value. A new system employs heat-quenched ultraviolet sensitive phosphors. Life-size temperature images are displayed on a television monitor. The essence of the problem and the aim of the project is the clear display of areas differing very slightly in brightness with enhanced contrast and minimum noise.
