Abstract: An electrostatically focused and magnetically deflected vidicon produced improvements in geometry and corner focus, in addition to providing a lightweight small diameter camera package. The tube, together with lightweight and small deflecting yokes, is well suited for transistorized cameras and employs a low heater-power gun for minimum current drain and low temperature gradients. The performance and design of the tube are described and compared to those of the magnetically focused vidicon.
