Abstract: A method for making composite motion pictures for black-and-white presentation is described. This technique, which employs the blue-screen traveling matte system, provides a greater degree of flexibility to the producer with a saving of both time and money. Historical matting processes are briefly outlined with emphasis on color separation methods.
