Abstract: An investigation was carried out to obtain quantitative information on the several characteristics of television images, particularly those relating to image detail. The tests were conducted largely through the use of equivalents so as to provide sufficient range of measurement. Such data are of value in establishing operating standards, determining satisfactory performance, and in guiding development work. It was found possible to define satisfactory television image characteristics for those items studied. The results are given in such form as to be readily applicable to practical conditions.
