Abstract: This device permits the production of direct-positive variable-area recordings of higher densities and lower cross-modulation distortion than hitherto possible. This is accomplished by pre-distorting the recorded signal electrically so as to cancel the cross-modulation components produced by image spread due to the use of high track densities.
