Electronic Printing for 16mm Sound

Abstract: Electronic printing has been an important step in recent years in improving 16mm sound quality, particularly in Kodachrome and television films. Using variable density and supersonic bias, an electronic (or electrical) print shows increased signal level, increased signal-to-noise ratio and sharp decrease in intermodulation distortion. With good laboratory control and recording-equipment operational control, close tolerances can be achieved and maintained, thereby ensuring excellent and consistent quality.
