- Abstract
- Digital technology has opened up many new opportunities and advantages in the television production and distribution industries. Digital equipment was initially limited to islands, where it provided special functions impossible or impractical with older equipment. The availability of digital equipment for all necessary functions and the serial digital interconnection system have made it practical and advantageous to build completely digital television facilities.
