Abstract
A series of operational aspects of broadcast and TV production networks must be taken into consideration. This paper covers these aspects, examines digital TV production from a networking perspective, and proposes a suitable digital codec concept.

bio
Ole Stender Nielsen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He holds an M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and a B. Com. degree from the Copenhagen School of Business. From 1987 to 1989 Neilsen was engaged in the design of microwave measurement systems. In 1989 he joined RE Technology AS, where he has been engaged in the development of broadcasting equipment and subsystems, including RDS/RBDS coders and low-distortion test systems. As senior marketing engineer at RE Technology, he is currently involved in technology assessments and strategic planning. A member of SMPTE and AES, his interests include the transmission of video and audio, broadcasting, and studio technology.
