Abstract
This article presents the view that computer graphics is a new media, and as such has a Renaissance flavor, utilizing the old laws in new ways. Three-dimensional objects and environments can be created from photographs by utilizing mathematical techniques, but also involve a considerable amount of human manipulation. The article gives a case history of a recent problem in computer animation which was solved by the use of simple algebraic geometry to create the three-dimensional effect and to coordinate animation with live action.
