- Abstract
- New digital technologies are changing the way the sound-editing studio will look and operate. This article discusses the changes that might appear in a studio using an entirely computerized sound-manipulation system. It describes one example of this class of equipment, including its original intent, its sound synthesis and digital recording/signal processing capabilities, its sequencer and multitrack recording capabilities, and its current hardware configuration. The article also suggests ways in which such equipment might allow the editor greater creativity, efficiency, and sound quality.
