Abstract
The Zoom Aerial Printer (ZAP) was designed to give the optical composite camera the ability to make off-center and programmed motion-controlled zooming moves on intermediate optical elements (separations, cover mattes, hold-out mattes, etc.) with flexibility and complete reliability, and with distortion and aberration-free optics. This is the first true zoom lens ever built for an optical printer for use in the motion-picture industry. The optical system is capable of zooming from reduction through 1:1 to enlargement with diffraction-limited quality, providing at least 160 line prs/mm across the entire 65mm field.
