- Abstract
- Specific hardware and software is needed in a television camera to cope with function monitoring and control. The real-time distributed system concept allows for complete function control together with an automatic setup system. Intelligent, knowledge-based algorithms are built into this setup system, which can take care of corrections for all aging effects. After tube replacement all tube parameters, including back-focus adjustment, are optimized for high-quality performance. In the authors' opinion, the computer in the camera of the future will become invisible to the human operator. It will control the technical operation and image quality of the camera, with additional operational features, but its presence will no longer be evident.
