Abstract: The National Film Board of Canada (NFB), which has produced some of the world's finest documentary, animation, fiction, educational, and experimental films, will celebrate its 50th anniversary on May 2, 1989. Respected and admired around the globe for its cinematic leadership and innovation, the NFB is unique in the world of cinema. Its achievements touch every phase of the motion-picture art and have helped popularize and make accessible film culture in every corner of the globe. The Board's films span the entire range of filmmaking, including documentaries and animation, theatrical features, teaching tools, and technological research and development.
