Abstract: The design of a high-quality wide-bandwidth video switching system brings new challenges. During the early stages of HDTV, it may be necessary to use a switching system with both NTSC/PAL and HDTV signals at the same time. Satisfying the requirements of both systems while delivering high performance for both types of signals requires an innovative approach in design. Some possible topologies are discussed, and a switching system that is being used in such an application is described.
