Abstract: The design of a multipurpose 65/70mm continuous contact motion-picture film printer combines existing printer technology with new developments influenced by the unique demands of large-format printing. The new 65/70mm printer is capable ofboth total-immersion wet printing of 65mm intermediate elements and high-speed, bidirectional dry 70mm release printing. Provision has been made for printing a range of 65/70mm formats from 5 to 15 perforations in size, and for future printing of 70mm optical sound tracks from 35mm negatives.
