- Abstract
- Holographic processes offer a number of advantages over conventional photographic processes. Many of these advantages are due to the high information density possible using holography. It is proving possible to develop holographic motion picture systems not only with flat images but also with three-dimensional images. The high resolving power of holographic film stock makes it possible to obtain higher image quality while reducing the amount of film stock needed. It is therefore possible to construct equipment that is smaller and lighter than conventional equipment. Difficulties in the process still remain, but they are being overcome. Research work carried out at NIKFI, Moscow, is described and confirms that the use of holographic processes in cinematography is promising.
