Abstract: The range of vertical movement provided by today's camera mounting equipment is analyzed in terms of cost. Analysis shows that lens heights below 3 1/2 feet (1.07 meters) and above 6 feet (1.83 meters) are difficult and expensive to obtain. Suggestions are made with regard to the form that future camera mountings or supports could take, when the use of small portable cameras becomes widespread. These small camera supports would give camera heights from 1 1/2 to 9 feet (46 centimeters to 2.74 meters), but would require the cameraman to learn new skills to operate them.
