Abstract
For the broadcasting of television images the camera lens is of vital importance. Lenses with variable focal length are particularly suitable. Vario (zoom) systems of three and four optical assemblies plus lenses of modular construction and their optical design are illustrated. The potential applications are shown and various examples are used to graphically represent in MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) values the image formation quality obtained.
